ON THE COVER

Sailboats with Clouds
Oil, 26” x 30”
by Jacob Walters

The first piece of Jacob’s work I ever saw, I bought,” said Joel Brown, proprietor of Brown’s Fine Art Gallery in Jackson, Mississippi. That was ten years ago, when the artist was eighteen. “He has his father’s flair for color,” noted Brown, referencing noted Mississippi watercolorist Gary Walters, who appears to have passed on his painter’s gene to his son. “And his paintings are very happy. So are his father’s.”
These days the place to find the traditional-yet-contemporary works of Jacob Walters is at Brown’s, the venerable gallery that has been a mainstay of Jackson’s Fondren district since Joel Brown’s mother founded it in 1963. (800) 737-4844 or www.brownsfineart.com to see more.
